What SnapNotes stores on your device

SnapNotes (the Chrome extension) saves the notes you write, the timestamps they're attached to, the titles/thumbnails/links of videos you've taken notes on, the room names you create, and your free-trial/license status. All of this is stored using Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local) directly on your own device, and is never uploaded, sold, or shared with third parties.

What SnapNotes stores elsewhere

Your notes, video history, and rooms never leave your device. The one exception is license activation: when you paste a purchased code into the extension, that code (and only that code) is sent to our verification server to confirm it's real, and is checked again periodically afterward to make sure it's still valid. That server also stores, per license: the license code itself, the associated Paddle transaction ID, and the email address Paddle gave us for that purchase (used only to help recover a lost code if you contact us). No note content, video history, browsing activity, or anything else is ever sent there.

The extension does not use analytics or tracking scripts, and does not read or collect anything from any site other than YouTube video ("watch") pages, and only what's needed to show the current timestamp, video title, and thumbnail.

Payments

If you choose to unlock unlimited notes, you'll be taken from the extension to this website, where payment is processed entirely by Paddle.com, our payment provider and merchant of record. We do not see or store your card details — Paddle handles that, subject to Paddle's own privacy policy. After a successful payment, this site verifies your transaction with Paddle and issues a license code, which is displayed to you and also stored on our verification server as described above.

Chrome sync

SnapNotes intentionally uses chrome.storage.local rather than chrome.storage.sync, so your notes stay on the device you created them on and are not automatically synced by Chrome across your devices or through your Google account.

Uninstalling

Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data (notes, rooms, and license status) along with it, per Chrome's standard behavior for extension storage. Your license record on our verification server is kept so you can re-activate the same code if you reinstall later.
